JETAA Japan Careers Seminar

The JET Alumni Association (JETAA) will be hosting a Japan Careers Seminar with various guest speakers talking about careers in interpreting & translation, finance, education, law, government etc. If you have always wanted to work in Japan then this is your chance to find out more information about life and the working lifestyle in Japan!

Annual General Meeing

It's around that time again when JAPSSOC will be holding its AGM. During this meeting, members will bring up vital issues such as suggestions to improve the club as well as elect its new commitee. There will be food and drinks as well. This event is open to all JAPSSOC members so this is your chance to get directly involved in further improving the club. See you there!

UWA Spring Feast 2008

Time: October 9th, Thursday 6:00PM till 10:00PM
Location:UWA Guild Courtyard
Details:
JAPSSOC will be participating in this year's Spring Feast, and we will be selling hot, fresh yakisoba, gyoza, onigiri as well as drinks! Yakisoba and gyoza will be cooked on the spot so not only will it be a feast for your palate, it will also be a feast for the eyes! Our stall is located next to the Campus News Agency. Look out for our white club banner! There will be bands playing, game stalls as well as other food stalls selling food of other countries! It is a cultural experience not to be missed! We look forward to seeing you there!

Okamoto Couple's Visit

Time: From September 30th~
Location:Mutsumi no Ma
Details:
The Okamoto couple is a couple from Japan paying a voluntary visit to UWA for 4 weeks time. During this time, they will be attending KAIWA sessions to share their knowledge and experience. We will be having origami sessions, games and cooking sessions under the guidance of the couple. So if you are have questions regarding Japan or have always wanted to learn origami, then please join us during KAIWA sessions at the Mutsumi no Ma.

Kouhaku Uta Gassen

Time: September 4th, Thursday 7:00PM till Midnight
Location:Seizan Japanese Restaurant & Karaoke Bar
Details:
JAPSSOC is organising the Kouhaku Uta Gassen 2008 (Japanese Karaoke Competition) and everyone is invited to the event!  Ask and invite your friends (and maybe your family) to come along and join the fun!  More than 100 people are expected to participate in this event of the year and you guys will be sure to have loads of fun! (organised by the JAPSSOC committee members). Information for the Kouhaku Uta Gassen 2008 will be released soon.
 

Ticket Price: $10 for members to $15 for non-members ($5 extra for the membership)

How to Purchase Tickets:  They can be purchased during any KAIWA sessions at Mutsumi no Ma room (in the Asian Study Department) on Wednesday 4pm to 6pm or on Friday 2pm - 4pm.  JAPSSOC will be setting up ticket booths on the Tuesdays of the next 2 weeks.

Details:
JAPSSOC is organising the JAPSSOC River Cruise 2008 and everyone is invited to the event!  Ask and invite your friends (and maybe your family) to come along and join the fun!  More than 100 people are expected to participate in this event of the year and there will be many games (organised by the JAPSSOC committee members) to ensure that everyone will have a fun-filled night!  There will be a DJ present during the night to ensure great music and finger food will be provided. Information for the JAPSSOC River Cruise'08 is provided below:
 
Theme: "ANYTHING BUT BLACK" (that's kinda easy)

Ticket Price: $20 for members to $25 for non-members ($5 extra for the membership)

Time: 16th May Friday 2008 at 7.30 pm to 10.30 pm

Our club will be participating in Prosh, a fundraising event through the sale of a satirical annual newspaper written by the students of UWA. Anyone interested in joining us are most definitely welcome!! The event starts at UWA Guild at 4AM and ends before 12PM in Perth City.

The next event we will be having is a Quiz Night in collaboration with JETAA (Japan Exchange and Teaching Alumni Association). It will be a great opportunity to make new contacts, particularly if you intend on using Japanese/going to Japan in the future - all this while having fun a the same time!! To start off the year we are having a free BBQ lunch at the Matilda Bay Foreshore at UWA on the Friday 28th of March for all those planning to renew their membership, it will be a good opportunity to take a breath and take in the beginning of the new semester and also to enjoy some FREE food or to just catch up with friends. We are also looking for new committee members to help JAPSSOC to grow. I hope you take the opportunity to drop by and we look forward to meeting you all there.


O-DAY 2008

Details:
Japssoc is a must join for anyone studying the language, with an interest in the place, or well, if you just want a good time! As one of the most active clubs on campus, we've been connecting people, having awesome events and generally making learning fun and fun learning for over 35 glorius years!
