Welcome
Irasshaimase!
Congratulations to all members, new and old, on joining for what
will surely be another fantastic year of Japan-o-mania. Our ongoing
aim is to help foster the exchange of culture, language and information
between Japanese and local students in Western Australia. While
many of our members have some Japanese academic background, we certainly
encourage anyone who is interested in the language or culture to
get involved in our events, even if you don't speak a word of the
language as many of the Japanese people attending our functions
seek to learn about Australian culture and English. So what are
you waiting for? Get moving! Get involved! Get JAPSSOCed!!
History
The Japanese
Studies Society at the University of Western Australia has a charter
of fostering the exchange of culture, language, and information
among Japanese and local students in Western Australia. With a history
spanning more than 35 years, the society has become a respected
and vital medium for academic, social, and professional interaction
on campus, and in the community at large. In 2002, the club was
part of the founding group of societies collaborating with the
Consulate General of Japan
in Perth to create the Friends of Japan network
combining the information resources of the professional community,
Japanese ex-patriot, and Japanese Exchange communities with our
own in pursuit of our aforementioned goals.
Our Vision This is
going to be a big year, we have a dedicated and energetic committee,
all willing to go that extra mile to make things happen. This year
there is alot going on, so if you feel you want to get involved,
there are always ways you to can get involved. Don't be afraid to
contact us, or pop your head into the club room or Kaiwa. |
